Dr. Philip Almeter serves as the Chief Pharmacy Officer at UKHealthCare. Dr. Almeter received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Georgia in 2009 and completed two years of post-graduate residency training at the University of Virginia. Following residency, Dr. Almeter managed Supply Chain, Financial Services, and OR Services for the UVa Department of Pharmacy for a year before joining the Pharmacy Department at UKHealthCare. Dr. Almeter has served in roles including the Director of Operations and Business Development, the Director of Acute Care Services and 340B Programs, and the Senior Director of Acute Care Pharmacy Services prior to his current role. Current responsibilities include oversight and leadership for Pharmacy services at Chandler Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, Markey Cancer Center (NCI Designated), Kentucky Children’s Hospital, all UKHealthCare clinics, and UKHealthCare’s retail and specialty pharmacy network of 6 pharmacies. Dr. Almeter serves as Program Director of the 24‐month Health System Pharmacy Administration Leadership/MBA residency program and holds an adjunct assistant professor appointment at the University of Kentucky’s College of Pharmacy. He also serves on the Dean’s Executive Council. Research interests include Supply Chain, 340B, Benchmarking, Pharmacy Benefit Managers, Pharmacoeconomics, Drug Quality, and FDA policy.
