SECURE 2.0 Act Brings Major Retirement Plan Changes

On December 29, 2022, the SECURE 2.0 Act of 2022 (“SECURE 2.0”) was signed into law. SECURE 2.0 is an enhancement to the Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement (SECURE) Act of 2019.  SECURE 2.0 includes both mandatory and optional changes to the rules governing various types of retirement plans, such as defined benefit plans, 401(k) plans, 403(b) plans, governmental 457(b) plans and Individual Retirement Accounts (“IRAs”).  This presentation will focus on the key provisions of SECURE 2.0, its challenges, and observations from a service provider perspective.

Karen McDonough is Chief Legal Officer and Practice Leader of the Regulatory and Compliance Department.  She is an attorney with over 30 years of experience in the retirement and employee benefits industry.

John Lucas is Managing Consultant and a JD, CPA, and CPC.  He also has over 30 years of experience in employee benefits and is the go-to resource for complicated compliance matters.
